Quadruped Posterior Hip Stretch


To Perform the Quadruped Posterior Hip Stretch:

  1. Begin in a quadruped position with your knees directly under your hips (Figure 1).

  2. From this position lift one knee off the floor and shift the free leg back behind your opposite leg (Figure 2).

  3. Next, shift your weight back slightly to the outside of your support knee.  At this point all your weight should be focused over your support knee and you should feel a stretch on the back of your support hip (figure 3). 

  4. Hold this position for 15-30 seconds, the repeat on the opposite side.
