What Is Performance Care?

Performance Care is a unique program designed to help athletes prevent injuries, optimize biomechanics and sport technique, and get their bodies in top athletic form.  This special program combines the principles of sports medicine, sport biomechanics, and functional sports conditioning into a customized treatment plan designed to address muscle imbalances, correct joint restrictions, and combat the wear-and-tear that results from the heavy demands of athletic training.

How It Works

Performance Care begins with a comprehensive biomechanical assessment, including video analysis of sport technique and functional movement patterns, comprehensive strength and flexibility testing of individual muscles and joints, and core stability testing.  Information gained from this initial assessment will be used to develop a customized “Functional Profile” for each athlete.  This Functional Profile acts as a training/treatment blueprint, identifying the key biomechanical faults and problematic muscles, joints, and movement patterns that must be corrected to ensure you can train and compete at your optimal level.

Following the initial assessment, Dr. Gray will review each athlete’s Functional Profile with them, and will develop a customized treatment plan to help correct the key problems that may be predisposing them to injury and interfering with optimal performance and technique.  Although treatment plans will be unique to each athlete, the treatment approach generally consists of a combination of in office care such as joint manipulation / mobilization to address restricted joints, soft tissue methods such as Active Release techniques (ART) and facilitated stretching to correct tight muscles, and specific home-based stretching and strengthening exercises to support in-office care, correct muscle imbalances, and improve strength and stability.
